Entrepreneur / Builder / Nashville

05 things in progress

I build things.

Businesses. Products. Brands. Ideas I can’t leave alone.

I’ve been an entrepreneur for more than 20 years. This is the home for what I’m building now, what I’m learning along the way, and the occasional opportunity to work with me one-on-one.

The through line

I like the part where something starts becoming what it could be.

Naming it. Shaping it. Seeing something in your head and figuring out how to make it real. Pulling the pieces together. Finding the angle. Making the first version. Or taking something that already works and seeing the bigger thing hiding inside it.

The stretch between “there’s something here” and “look what this could become” is where I’m happiest.

And, increasingly, I’m documenting that part instead of pretending I had the answers before I started.

About

I’m Mak.

I’ve been an entrepreneur since I was 20.

Over the years I’ve built product businesses, education businesses, brands, software, media projects and a fairly impressive graveyard of ideas that taught me something.

I’m particularly obsessed with positioning, customer psychology, untapped potential, turning vague ideas into actual things and figuring out what the next move should be when everything feels muddy.

I live in Nashville with my wife, Valerie, and our family. Valerie is an artist and entrepreneur, and a lot of what we’ve built has been built together.

These days I’m also sharing more of the process publicly while it’s happening, including the parts that aren’t neat yet.

I’m less interested in looking like an entrepreneur than actually building something.

Ambition / Clarity / Next

Sometimes I help other people build theirs.

I work one-on-one with a small number of founders, creatives and operators who are already moving but want sharper thinking around where they’re going.

This isn’t accountability theater, motivational yelling or a canned 47-step framework.

We figure out what you’re actually trying to build, what’s getting in the way and what the next move is.

I work best with ambitious people who are willing to think differently, make decisions and hear an answer they may not have expected.

Who I’ve worked with

My work has included leaders, founders and creatives ranging from Fortune 500 executives and Grammy Award-winning artists to multi-million-dollar founders, internationally recognized visual artists and small business owners.

Want to work together?

I’m not always taking new clients.

If you’d like to know when I open a coaching spot, join the waitlist. I’ll reach out when there’s an opening or something directly relevant to working together.

Building in public

I’m showing more of the messy part.

Ideas. Experiments. Things that work. Things that absolutely do not.
Follow along while I’m figuring it out.
